I have a freezer full of bacon.\u00a0 That I never make.<\/p>\n

Because who’s going to get burned from grease splatters while cooking the bacon?<\/p>\n

Me.<\/p>\n

And who’s going to scrub the grease and bacon bits from the pan used on the stove or the plate used in the microwave?<\/p>\n

Me.<\/p>\n

And who’s going to have to clean the grease splatters off the stove top or wipe down the entire interior of the microwave?<\/p>\n

Me.<\/p>\n

Do not tell me to cook bacon in the oven on a cookie sheet or broiler tray.\u00a0 Do NOT.\u00a0 That little adventure is how my children learned that you really can put out a fire in the oven by pouring an entire box of baking soda on it.<\/p>\n

Guess who got to clean up the burned bacon bits, the grease, AND the baking soda out of the oven?<\/p>\n

Oh, that’s right.<\/p>\n

Me.<\/p>\n

So I had little faith when I stumbled upon this product at the Hospice Flea Market store.<\/p>\n

But it was only $1.oo.<\/p>\n

$1.00.<\/p>\n

I’m not sure what kitchen gadget I wouldn’t try for $1.oo.\u00a0 After all, these tortilla shapers that I found at the dollar store have been a big hit at our house for taco salads.<\/p>\n

Too bad several weeks later, I found this tip on pinterest.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

I love pinterest and hate pinterest so much.<\/p>\n

In any case, I figured my budget could handle a $1.00 donation to hospice even if Makin Bacon was a flop.\u00a0 Plus, it’s not too early to start planning rethrifting<\/strong><\/em>.\u00a0 Which is like regifting except it involves finding homes for the thrift store items you bought and never ever use.\u00a0 Christmas is right around the corner…..<\/p>\n

The kids’ hearts filled with joy when they saw me take packs of bacon out of the freezer.\u00a0 They got even more excited when they saw the Makin Bacon<\/a> box.\u00a0 No one appreciates a good gadget better than kids.\u00a0 A gadget made by a kid.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

A gadget made by a kid, that inspires your mom to cook 2 lbs of bacon, was almost to good to be true.\u00a0 And if it’s too good to be true then it probably…..<\/p>\n

ISN’T!!!!!<\/p>\n

The bacon cooked up perfectly.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Don’t be fooled by that picture.\u00a0 Those were just the last few pieces of bacon.\u00a0 The Makin Bacon was able to cook 12 slices of bacon at a time.\u00a0 And covered with a paper towel to prevent splatters, it just went into the microwave and went to work.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

In 15 minutes I had a plate full of bacon.\u00a0 Bacon that had been cooked above the grease instead of in it.\u00a0 So that it was healthy.\u00a0 Kind of.\u00a0 Probably.\u00a0 Maybe.<\/p>\n

Eh.\u00a0 Does anyone care about healthy when it comes to bacon?<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

I also had a microwave that was still clean,<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

a spotless stove top,<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

and a reservoir of bacon grease that could be easily poured out.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

To be shared among the dogs, the chickens, and, of course, the pigs.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Because what goes around, comes around, people.<\/p>\n

Mmmmmmm.\u00a0 No mess, no fuss bacon.<\/p>\n

Thank you, Makin Bacon.\u00a0 For restoring my faith in the value of the American dollar.<\/p>\n

Thank you, Hospice Flea Market.\u00a0 Is there no end to your random amazingness?<\/p>\n
