As it turns out, Bruno is NOT actually white.
It’s shocking, I know. Our white knight, guardian of everything furry and feathered, is actually, kind of… um, sort of……well, mayonnaise. Or oyster shell. Maybe even the color of an old bone found in the woods. Can you tell?
And we would never have known this if North Carolina wasn’t trying to give Buffalo, NY a run for the money this winter. Which, to me, seems like a contest without any winners. But maybe that’s just me.
And poor Bruno. Whose personal version of white is just a few shades off from the sparkly, freshly fallen snow. Oh, the shame.
Don’t worry, buddy. We still love you. Even in ochre.
**All photos in this post are courtesy of Pretty, who braved the cold to document farm life under 6 inches of snow. Of course, Bruno was the only thing out and about to be documented. All the other critters were holed up in the barn, huddled next to the hay rolls, dreaming of Florida. I would have taken the snow pictures but I felt the truly responsible thing to do was to guard the wood stove. And monitor the making of hot chocolate. Sigh. Kids have all the fun.

ah, yes, Bruno would still be a gorgeous animal to your faithful readers! I happen to have a white(esque) boxer who has a face only a mother could love. I totally relate to your breaking news as white(esque) on our beast turns out to be not so spotless after all against a quiet snowfall.
